The fluffme.design story: it all began with one handmade makeup bag

In short

fluffme.design is Dasha's brand from Minsk: handmade makeup bags, cases and travel bags that you put together yourself. You decide what the piece will be like, and we sew it.

We started in November 2022, ship to several countries and have completed about 2000 orders so far.

One pink makeup bag

In November 2022, Dasha saw fluffy makeup bags on Pinterest and decided to sew one for herself.

She chose pink terry cloth and a blue floral lining, taking her time over the combination and picturing how the bag would turn out.

The seams came out uneven, and some steps were harder than they looked.

“What looked like a great result to me then, I would surely want to redo today,” Dasha says.

Still, that imperfect bag brought so much joy that Dasha kept sewing and started an Instagram page to show her pieces. The page grew, and by New Year the first real order came in, for a laptop case.

The first makeup bags were soft and fluffy, so the brand was named fluff.cosmetic: the word fluff suggests something airy and gentle.

How new pieces came about

The M and L makeup bags we started with are still in the catalogue. The fabrics and the sewing have changed since, but you would recognise them at a glance.

Many new pieces began with the question “Could you make one for me?” That is how a customer asked for an iPad case, and later another for a camera case.

Others we came up with for our own habits. The Dyson case appeared when we needed to take a hair styler and its attachments on trips ourselves, and the small pouch so little things are always to hand in an everyday bag.

A name, initials or simply your colours

Over time, customers started asking for embroidery: their name, their initials or a short word.

At first it was not easy: we had to track down embroiderers, and for a single word we sometimes travelled to the other side of the city.

But embroidery is only one way to make a piece yours. The combination does it too: a soft fabric outside, an unexpected lining inside, a zip that matches or one that stands out.

What goes into the handwork

The same pattern behaves differently in different fabrics. So the combination you choose is also a task for us: finding the right approach to that particular fabric.

That took us a long time to learn: sewing the laptop case zip in straight did not work at first, and the travel bag's shape and handle fixings took many attempts to get right.

We dropped fabrics that looked good but proved impractical for everyday use.

From Instagram to new countries and large batches

At first the whole shop lived on Instagram. After every order we messaged the buyer separately to agree how to send the parcel.

By spring 2024, we already had a separate Instagram page for buyers in Poland. Today our pieces travel from Belarus to Poland, other European countries and the USA.

Delivery options now sit right in the order: in Poland an InPost locker, a DPD point or collection in person, in Belarus Evropochta, Belpost, a courier or collection in Minsk. Delivery no longer takes us the effort it once did.

In autumn 2024, we began sewing makeup bags for other brands, in batches of 10 or more. We take on large batches too.

Our own site

With all those orders, the shop outgrew Instagram. So since May 2026, we have been building our own site, and it is now the main focus of our work.

Here you put your piece together in the configurator: you pick the fabric, lining, zip and, if you like, embroidery, and see your combination on the photo of the piece straight away. No guessing whether one fabric goes with another or which zip colour to choose.

The site works in English, Polish and Russian, and prices depend on the country you order to. There is no sign-up: your order opens from a personal link.

The site also settled the question of the name. At first our Instagram pages were called fluff.cosmetic and fluff.cosmetic.pl, later fluff.mee for Belarus and fluff.me.pl for Poland. The site needed one name for every country, and we arrived at fluffme.design.

Lead times and packaging

Sewing usually takes 5–7 working days, a travel bag about 10–14. The time depends on the model, how many orders are in and whether there is embroidery.
